In 2020, We Changed Everything.

Both of our companies transitioned to remote work, so we decided it was the ”perfect” time to hit the road and travel full time. Knowing that we didn’t want to be any place too long, the van was an ideal choice for life on the road. Orca, our ad(van)ture mobile, took 6 months to plan, build, and complete. During that time, we spent countless hours drawing out layout ideas, researching builders, and watching copious amounts of vanlife YouTubers. We’ve detailed the process from beginning to end in the sections below.

Van Gear

Living in a van full-time requires simple and effective gear to make minimalist living easy. These are the gadgets we take with us that help make #vanlife happy and sustainable.

Van Build

We put a lot of time and thought into what we wanted out of our build. Check out what we love and the things we would change for our next van.

What We Love
about the van

For the last couple years, we’ve been strategizing the best way to rid ourselves of bills, debt, and living paycheck-to-paycheck. We wanted to focus more on the activities we value, and have more freedom in our everyday lives. The van has been an integral part to making that come true.

90% of the time we’re either camping on free BLM land, stowing away in a Walmart parking lot, staying overnight in a ski resort, or crashing with friends around the country.

When the snow starts falling, we start hauling… toward the nearest ski resort or backcountry objective! Winter is important to us, and we spend most of the weeks looking for new and exciting places to ride with friends.

We both try to live as eco-consciously as possible. The van has been a great vehicle, (pun intended), to figure out what matters to us most and how to lower our carbon footprint. We’re in it to help the planet that we love so much.
